Versus is the University’s official student general interest magazine. It provides in-depth coverage of topics of interest to students, explores themes in campus life, and includes humor, fiction, poetry, and art.
Versus at InsideVandy
HISTORY
Versus began as a weekly campus newspaper in 1968 as a conservative alternative to the then more liberal Hustler. In 1972 Versus turned from news to literature and arts, and then in 1973 became focused on countercultural issues.1 In the 1980s Versus changed to a traditional magazine format.
FREQUENCY
Versus is published nine times each academic year. The average magazine is 32 pages with 3,000 copies printed. It is distributed free at approximatly 20 sites on campus and several sites in the surrounding community.
STAFF
The Versus staff is comprised of approximately 10 students who make up the editorial board, including the Editor-in-Chief. Additionally, some 25 students work as reporters, editors, photographers, designers, advertising representatives and office assistants.
FACILITIES
The Versus office is located in Suite130A Sarratt Student Center.
