The Vanderbilt Review at InsideVandy
The Vanderbilt Review is the University’s official student literary and arts journal. The Review includes refereed work in fiction, poetry, drama, art, and photography from students, alumni, and University affiliates.
HISTORY
The Vanderbilt Review debuted in April 1985. The Review was formed as a consolidation of three previous published showcases of student work: The Poetry Review, The Photography Review, and Scrivener. The Review has consistently received prestigious awards for its professional work and format. In past years, the Review has featured interviews and work from writers such as Robert Penn Warren, Roy Blount, Jr., and Bobbie Ann Mason.
FREQUENCY
The Vanderbilt Review is published once each academic year. The average journal is 200 pages with 3,500 copies printed. It is distributed free at approximately 20 sites on campus and several sites in the surrounding community including area bookstores.
STAFF
The Review staff is comprised of approximately 25 students who make up the editorial board, including the Editor-in-Chief. More than 100 students, alumni, and University affiliates submit work for consideration of publication. The Review solicits assistance from Professors in the English and Art Departments as judges for its annual awards.
FACILITIES
The Vanderbilt Review staff works in the Student Media Newsroom in Suite 130 of Sarratt Student Center.
